Jane has become so concerned to help people before they become ill that she is helping to arrange a series of health talks based on the very latest science which usually takes years to reach and be used by doctors. The first talk will show how using the NEOS Smarthealth approach can prevent and reverse obesity, type 2 diabetes and heart disease and will be held at the famous Hoxton Apprentice Pub in London. Do come if you can and make sure others who are affected by these conditions are aware of the meeting

New Evidence of the Value of Plant Programme in Treating Cancer

New book: to be published in December this year. It can be preordered from www.amazon.co.uk: paperback or hardback

Anxiety and depression can be frightening, both to sufferers themselves and to those close to them. In Britain today a staggering one person in six will suffer from depression or a chronic anxiety disorder at some time in their lives. In the USA a mental disorder will affect one in five people during their lifetimes; and people born after World War Two are twice as likely to develop a mental illness as their parents. These dry statistics understate the severity of the situation, because mental illness affects not only the lives of sufferers themselves but also those of their partners, families and friends. This means that in Britain one family in three is likely to be affected at some point.

Stress, Anxiety and Depression SuPPort is a new organisation, founded in 2008, dedicated to helping people affected by stress, anxiety or depression. It builds on and develops the comprehensive approach to understanding, preventing and overcoming these conditions first set out in Beating Stress, Anxiety and Depression by Jane Plant and Janet Stephenson. This approach uses the latest scientific findings to show how you, the patient, can regain control by learning about and carefully selecting from the various diagnostic procedures and treatments that are available and by making changes to your lifestyle and diet to help you to overcome anxiety and depression.

Jane and Janet know of numerous success stories - stories of people who have used the kind of advice given in this book to conquer anxiety and depression.

This website will enable the latest research results to be brought rapidly to a wider audience so that the information in the book can be kept really up to date. The website provides information and advice for sufferers and their carers, and for anybody who wants to adopt a lifestyle and diet that will reduce their risk of suffering from anxiety and depression.

THE CENTRE FOR STRESS, ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION
JANE PLANT AND JANET STEPHENSON

Professor Jane Plant and Janet Stephenson*, Chartered Psychologist, have established a successful practice in Richmond to help people suffering from stress, mental, physical and emotional disorders. Many have turned to the centre having found that medical treatment alone does not provide the answer. Jane and Janet use three levels of healing to complement conventional medical treatment.

1. Therapies that complement conventional medicine.

We use laboratories that perform state - of - the - art analyses of brain chemistry including natural and false neurotransmitters and other fundamental biochemical tests that help to determine the optimum therapies needed. These tests are otherwise available only through Harley Street practitioners. We also have access to registered acupuncturists, herbalists, osteopaths, reflexologists and massage therapists that we have tested personally.

2. Diet and lifestyle.

We help to develop the most appropriate diet and exercise regime for each individual. We also help to minimise the effects of harmful substances such as plasticisers in your diet and environment on your mental and physical health. Such substances can act as false neurotransmitters producing symptoms similar to those of common mental health disorders. Jane's unique scientific and nutritional experience and qualifications (see www.janeplant.com) provide invaluable help, based on the latest research from peer-reviewed scientific literature.

3. Talking therapies.

Janet's psychological counselling career extends over fifteen years in the private and NHS sectors. Her expertise in a variety of techniques including psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy and family work helps to find the best solution tailored to individual needs. This helps to increase emotional awareness by exploring the behaviour and patterns that can cause you problems.

This integrated approach based on three levels of healing has proved highly successful in empowering people, improving self-esteem and self-understanding that are fundamental to physical and mental health and well-being.
