Catherine's story
Dear Ms Plant
I am a 58 year old woman who was diagnosed with breast cancer late last year. As soon as I was diagnosed I went straight to my local bookshop and looked up as much information as I could. I remembered reading about you quite a few years ago and located your book "Your Life in Your Hands" and have followed your programme as much as possible, but have gave up dairy 100%
My treatment has been progressing well, chemotherapy followed by surgery last Wednesday.
Yesterday morning I received a telephone call from my Oncologist's secretary bringing my appointment forward by two weeks. About one hour later I received a telephone call from my Surgeon's secretary (who I am due to see on Monday) asking me to go to my local cottage hospital (Teddington Hospital) at 5.30pm as he does a clinic at Teddington every Thursday evening, so you can imagine what was going through my mind when both of them wanted to see me sooner than arranged. I thought something nasty must have been found during the biopsy of the tissue removed during surgery.
The reason the surgeon wanted to see me straight away was because he was amazed when he saw the results of the biopsy - there was absolutely no trace of cancer whatsoever, it had completely vanished! He wanted to do an ultrasound scan to make sure that he had not missed anything (although he was sure he had not as I had a wire guide incision prior to surgery). Fortunately, he had not, as the scan showed no sign of cancer. My husband and I were amazed, but very happy - I still can't believe that it has gone.
I think I am still wants me to have radio-therapy as an insurance, and I will have an MRI scan six months after that to make double sure the cancer has gone.
I can't wait to see my Oncologist (Mr Lowdell), as I know he will be very pleased to know that his treatment (plus, I expect, your recommendations) got such fantastic results.
As soon as I started your programme I said that if I knew of anyone diagnosed with breast cancer I would personally buy them a copy of your book.
Who knows how my cancer went, whether due to chemo-therapy or your programme, or perhaps a comination of both, but I shall certainly be continuing your programme as much as possible for the rest of my life.
Many thanks.
